Oven 400~. Grease 9x13x2 inch baking pan. Melt butter and chocolate. Stir in sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Bake at 400~ for 15 min. Let cool in pan. Cut into diamonds. Store in tin box between layers of wax paper.

Beat egg very light and add shortening, sugar, dates, cocoanut, and flavoring. Mix well. Add milk and flour which has been sifted with baking-powder and salt. Drop from teaspoon on greased tin. Bake in a moderately hot oven. Time in oven, 12 minutes. Temperature, 375 degrees.
